Dear Cha,
I have pleasure in confirming that the collecting boxes recently received back from the Mountbatten Players after the Dick Whittington pantomime contained donations totalling £255.33, the collecting buckets contained a further £565.48 bringing the total 'retiring collection' to £820.81. A further £115 was raised in donations received for complimentary tickets making a grand total of £935.81. Again the Players have succeeded in beating their previous year's total - a fantastic achievement particularly in view of the impact of the current economic climate on ticket sales.
As you are aware, it is through donations such as these that the hospice is able to continue to support over 3000 patients a year with life-limiting cancer. In addition to the funding received from the NHS, the charity contributes approximately £1 million every year to help enhance the quality of life of our patients, their families and carers.
The hospice relies on the charity to make a significant contribution to its running costs. Among the things we fund are extra nursing, activities for Day Care patients, new and improved equipment, complimentary therapies, transport for patients and relatives, the upkeep of the gardens which are so appreciated by all and much, much more.
Without the generous support we receive from the community, we would be unable to continue to support the patients, staff and services at the hospice. Please pass on our thanks to all those involved with the Mountbatten Players for their continued support, it is very much appreciated.
Yours sincerely,
Mandy Baker
